Richard Fynes – The Silk Route, part 1.

YNS Members meeting, 2:00pm, 25^th February 2012, Swarthmore.

Richard will attempt to provide a sense of place for some of the numismatic items found along the middle section of the silk route.  He will show some coins with pictures of the sites associated with them, most of them taken on his travels in Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.   Confident that the members of the YNS in his audience will supply scholarly rigour and complete the gaps in his knowledge, Richard will take an unashamedly eclectic and anecdotal approach to his topic, covering the entire ancient to modern period.
